Guest guest
Hi Everyone, I'm in TN. I have a son with OCD. He is 12 and has been relatively asymptomatic for 1 1/2 yrs and is on no meds. Here is my question ... When he was bad, he had thoughts of kissing both boys and girls, men/women it didn't matter. I dont' believe it was sexual in nature, but more of a fixation on lips - of which my brother in law with ocd also had the same thoughts (and is not gay). In my church, we have a satellite conference 2x year and one session is just for men. Well, my son is 12 and is officially old enough to attend these " men " meetings. My husband is out of town and so cannot attend with him, but my son really wants to go. Though most topics revolve around faith, living righteously, etc, a common topic is pornography (gently touched upon), which is okay but sometimes homosexuality is often discussed. Now, please understand I am not trying to offend anyone here - this is not about beliefs, but just the question at hand. Though my church teaches against homosexuality, it would not kill me if my son were gay (just so that is understood) but I don't want him obsessing about it. I guess I am more fearful because of the past thoughts about lips and kissing. He has crushes on girls in his class and it doesn't seem to be an issue, but, would you have faith in how well he is doing and let him attend, or would you be cautious and make him stay home? Thanks for any and all opinions! in TN
