Guest guest
If you leave it alone it will form a new scoby on top--a byproduct of the chemical transformation of the sugar. It is normal for a scoby that has been disturbed to sink or float sideways, but it does not affect the quality of your brew. Assuming you have put the proper ratios of sugar, tea, and previously fermented KT in, give it a week to ten days and you should have a nice new scoby on top. Guest guest
Hi kris It is normal for the scoby to sink or stay on top. Do not worry there is nothing wrong. (UK) Sent from my BlackBerry® wireless device sinking scobey When starting my KT this morning I put in a nice scobey I received yesterday and it sunk down to the bottle. Is that okay? Do I need to do something? I brought it up the top but after a few minutes, its back down the bottom. HELP! Namaste', Kris

Guest guest
Hya! the floating scobies have their babies growing on them, and they are attached by some cords...when baby is fully formed it usually is easy to separate from mother, but u can still feel where they were attached, so that does not happen, when they are sideways, or at bottom, still make wonderful KT, but i wonder..why they are attached, when they grow on top of mother.
