Guest guest
Hi to everybody;I'm and 33 years old, 4 years positive and close to two years taking ARV's. Since some months ago I'm experiencing left knee pain (cartilage loss) and left-low abdominal pain (very paintfull close to my ligament). I have ask to my doctor several times if the cause of this problems are one (o more) of my cocktail (Lamivudina + Efavirenz + Tenofovir), but he hasn't an answer. I got X-Ray, ultrasound, but nothing (at least on my abdominal regional because on my left knee I have a problem).Well I have reviewed the body forum searching for some information and found a lot of questions of people like me with similar problems but the answer is always the same, the pain has nothing to do with the ARV's, I don´t believe that, I´m pretty sure my problem is with on of the ARV's but nobody can help me. Here you can find links to questions in the Body site:http://www.thebody.com/Forums/AIDS/SideEffects/Q218385.htmlhttp://www.thebody.com/Forums/AIDS/SideEffects/Q210296.htmlhttp://www.thebody.com/Forums/AIDS/SideEffects/Q197831.htmlhttp://www.thebody.com/Forums/AIDS/SideEffects/Q219911.htmlhttp://www.thebody.com/Forums/AIDS/SideEffects/Q168933.htmlhttp://www.thebody.com/Forums/AIDS/SideEffects/Q163150.htmlPeople, you think Truvada (Tenofovir) can be the cause? It is very frustrating not being able to make the sport that I like (Soccer) due the pain in my left-lower abdominal part and knee pain. I can only tell you that all this started since I started taking the medication.Since I don´t have an answer from my HIV Specialist I'm thinking very seriously switch off some ARV's (one by one) in order to discover which of them is the cause of my problem.Answers and advises are welcome
Guest guest
, years ago I had sharp pains on my face bones especially above the eyes, as you I had tests and no answerbut the pain did go away when I changed my Meds.If your doctor has run all the testshe can think of and excluded several conditions, your best bet is to go for a second or third opinion but if you still get nowhere then i would thinkyou are guessing right and it has to be the medicationsMark BSent from my iPhoneOn Apr 2, 2012, at 9:22 AM, Virgo Arcangel <virgoarcangel@...> wrote: Hi to everybody;I'm and 33 years old, 4 years positive and close to two years taking ARV's. Guest guest
Virgo, As a physical therapist the best question I can ask you is: what makes your knee hurt? what makes your groin hurt? If it's activity related you have a mechanical orthopedic problem which may have absolutely nothing to do with your meds. I can think of many musculoskeletal problems that it could be. Have your MD refer you for physical therapy or to an orthopedist to rule these things out.
