Guest guest
Hi, Along with stool testing that integrative medicine doctor did with our daughter who has rett syndrome he also did lab work. Showed low in taurine, carnitine and tyrosine. He has her on 500mg taurine in morning and bedtime. We have been doing this for a couple of weeks. For this whole past summer she has had difficulty falling asleep, not till like 3 - 4am. When we started the taurine I first just gave the 500mg at bedtime because he said it helps the inhibitory side of the nervous system. It did seem to help her fall asleep a little more easily - at 12mid - 1am which was better. Then we added the 500mg in the a.m. Lately though the past few days she has seemed more restless during the day, almost hyper so I thought maybe it could be the taurine so yesterday I didn't give it to her at all and she was awake all night. Still is. I gave her back the morning dose of it today. Need some advice on this or experience shared. Does taurine generally calm or excite? Could her dose be too high or too low (she is 22, 113lbs.) We tried the l-carnitine awhile back but that definitely kept her up all night even at small dose of 65mg so have not added that back in. Thank you for your help Blessings to all
