Guest guest
I really used to think he was funny. Tonight there seemed to be so much woman-hate seeping through his comedy that I started to feel a little ill. He used the word " disgusting " in reference to women in general twice in one minute. I heard plenty of mean voices like that in school, later from guys I worked with (talking about " fat girls " in general) and from my ex. I usually don't watch much TV anyway. Tonight I remembered one reason why. It's great to think in a positive way and to keep moving in a self-loving direction without giving much attention to fat hate and/or hatred toward overweight women, but that hatred really is out there. It still has a loud voice, a voice that often goes unchallenged. It's what psychologists call " Adolescent Rejection " which is a term describing a rejection of an entire person based on a shallow assessment or on something the person has no control over, like a visible injury. It's the kind of vicious judgement and rudeness commonly associated with adolescents-although some people never grow up past a certain point unless they are forced into compassion by an event in their own lives. I would like to extend extra love to the people on this list, simply for the fact that they may have had to deal with these kinds of rejection, insults and hate...IN ADDITION to having to deal with the internal forces that create overeating. We are all re-learning a relationship with food, some of us with the extra stress of external prejudice and verbal injuries. Big Extra Blessings to all who've had to deal with this. May it slip your mind completely in a few seconds, to be replaced by something awesome...like your dog doing something funny or a friend calling with a great story or finding a 20-dollar bill in your spring jacket.
