I can see that socializing can and does cause a lot of problems - I

was arguing/debating this point the other day.

Social Services here in the UK seem to think that both my son and I

should have more access to what they call 'leisure and recreational

opportunities', what they basically mean is both my son and I

socializing more. What they fail to realise is that if I was to push

my son into lots of 'clubs/groups' (and he has tried some previously)

is that he would end up having lots of meltdowns due to sensory

overload and the ignorance of other people.

I then started pondering, just what is so great about being social

anyways. I have viewed others that are what to me are extremely

social and that many seem to engage in; gossip, excluding others that

are not 'in', often are socially manipulative and seem to

learn/attain skills that involve lying. Whilst they are true to the

group and/or considered 'in' then the group will rally around them

(closing in ranks) - however if an individual dares to speak out/be

different - threaten the group in some way, the group will very

likely turn on that individual - even if that individual is correct.

I would like to think there are some good/okay groups about, but I

fear that they are few and far between.
