Guest guest
Hi everyone, We have been reading this book over the holidays and have found it thought-provoking http://www.amazon.co.uk/Fall-Insanity-Human-History-Dawning/dp/1905047207/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8 & s=books & qid=1285060163 & sr=8-2 My summary won't do it service, but basically it suggests that humans (deserting the drying Saharasian regions) began to change (6,000 years ago)- developing a greater sense of ego and separation (from each other and from nature). This led to disharmony and conflict. The author suggests that meditation can help us connect again with each other. The author suggests reasons why this change may have happened (competition for resources etc) - but we wondered about a retrovirus or maybe the affect of the bronze age (early metal toxicity??). At the same time there was a huge step forward in technology and humans became more sophisticated and "civilised". I am interested in ego and in meditation - not getting terribly far with meditation- it doesn't come naturally, but, I think I am beginning to focus my thoughts better and quiet the brain chatter - and will keep at meditation. I think I read an article in a recent Autism File about a yound ASD adult who had taught himself meditation and helped his anxiety. I thought he'd done really well - I feel mediation doesn't come easy to many on the spectrum - but maybe like me they never knew much about it and didn't understand the benefits. Best wishes, Sandy
