Guest guest
I just started listening to the podcasts this afternoon and joined the group to boost my support team. I have a very close friend who will be my one-on-one support, but my wife is not very understanding when it comes to weight loss. She's the worst enabler ever, really. She tries to support me when I'm looking to eat/drink less and exercise more, but she just doesn't _get_ it completely. I'll turn 44 this summer, I'm wavering around 150-155 at 5'3 " , and I have a sit-at-a-computer-all-day job. I got into gardening for the first time this spring, and we just started renovating our kitchen. I had been overweight for most of my post-college life up until a few years ago when I went through a mental change that was like a switch turning, from poor eating habits to healthy ones and from not much exercise to loving exercise. I lost a lot of weight, got in great shape, could run 3 miles. I felt like I could teach other people how to lose weight and keep it off forever. Back in October, I quit seeing my personal trainer I'd been seeing once a week all summer to save money and get more sleep. After that, work got more stressful and my opportunity to go to the gym during the work day disappeared, and I stopped going. I bike to work most days (14 miles round trip, 40 min. travel time each way), and I thought that would keep me trim on its own, but it doesn't. I've put 10 pounds back on, seemingly all around the middle, and lost muscle mass. My eating habits are slacking back to too much sugar in the evenings and too much alcohol (each habit feeds the other). I had great success with hypnotherapy before in helping turn my mental attitude around, so I'm hoping that this program will work similarly for me. I've always had best success when I could really get excited about the effort. So, here I am, ready to get back on track. Joan
