Guest guest
Just looking for some opinions and other's experiences here. My kids continue to have low titers when their meningococcal and pneumococcal titers are tested. When the doc will do the booster shots, and re-check, it shows that they do build immunities, but then they lose those immunities after about 6 months. Our docs are split - several of them want the kids to get yearly sets of vaccine boosters to protect, since they keep getting chronic infections, and the others (the ones more versed in immunology) say that they will get that protection from their IG therapy and not to bother re-vaccinating, since obviously they are losing the immunity anyways. What does everyone else do? a,
Guest guest
We don't bother with it, they don't hold the titers and the vaccines are filled with all kinds of nasties you wouldn't otherwise put in your kids. Not worth it imo. ________________________________ From: beyeafamily <debeyea@...> Sent: Fri, January 21, 2011 11:13:15 AM Subject: Yearly booster shots necessary when on therapy? Guest guest
No, no need for any more routine immunizations. The Ig has antibodies already in it. The only ones we do are the flu shots that are reformulated each year. It takes about 6 months to build " herd immunity " in the Ig, which wouldn't help with flu (flu season would be over by then). Guest guest
we dont do any shots anymore. Its useless, they dont work. Two of my kids can do a yearly flu shot, two of them cant due to reactions. valarie > > Just looking for some opinions and other's experiences here. Guest guest
We don't do any vaxes at all here either. We can't do the flu shot either. > > Just looking for some opinions and other's experiences here. My kids continue to have low titers when their meningococcal and pneumococcal titers are tested. Guest guest
we have NEVER revaccinated. It is counterproductive since the body cannot maintain the immunity. I personally would refuse. They get what they need from the IG therapy. The only vaccines my son gets is the annual flu vaccines. Guest guest
My son's immunologist says he is not to receive immunizations. He said the response will be altered, he doesn't need them...and definitely no live vaccines...MMR, Varivax, Flumist.
