Guest guest
Hi to all autism members! I wanted to give everyone an update on this group and to let you know of a few changes we will be making. The autism group now has close to 800 members. That's big! We have an open membership allowing anyone with an interest in autism issues in Georgia to join. Our membership includes parents, therapists, researchers, students, professors, teachers, school personnel and individuals with autism. Our group is for and about children with autism and their families. Professionals have always been welcomed in this group - but have been strongly discouraged from using this group as a forum for soliciting individual products or services. Unfortunately, " strongly discouraging " solicitation is not enough. I am, therefore, changing the group policy on membership by professionals. Autism-georgia will no longer ALLOW any solicitation of products and/or services. Professionals are welcome to be members of this group but will not be allowed to post to the group. As a service to our families, products and services relating to autism and offered by professionals may be advertised ONLY in the PRODUCTS/SERVICES file on the website. The autism moderators/owner may remove any advertised product/service file from this folder if is deemed inappropriate. It IS important for families to be aware of the resources that are available in their community - and I encourage all family members to share their favorites with the group. Additionally, I encourage family members to share announcements of upcoming workshops, meetings, conferences, etc. with the group. However, please be careful not to post blatant advertisements for products/services. I hope these changes will allow autism to continue to be a valuable resource to families! Thanks.
