Guest guest Posted March 23, 2010 Report Share Posted March 23, 2010 Hi Everyone, I knocked out a virgin workout this morning - Amy Bento's 10 Min Solution 5 Day Get Fit Mix. Overall, I liked the workout, but not sure if it has a "place" in my regular rotations. There was a lot of variety, but I didn't feel there was "enough" to really hit anything specific. The first section was a circuit workout that alternated probably 1 min of cardio w/ 1 min of strength. Most of the strength sections used compound movements for effiicency. While, not a bad workout, I'm not sure it is "enough" to really get results from. I used 5's, like Amy, for some of the exercises I could probably bump it up to at least 8. Second segment was an ab routine that incorporated some standing ab work and some floor work. Some different exercises were presented - almost Kettlebell-ish. I did like this section, but not sure I would actually remember to reach for it for an ab add on. Third segment was weights - using mostly compound movements to work upper and lower together. Again, not a bad routine, but not really "enough". I used 5's like Amy, I could bump most exercises up to at least 8. Fourth segment was kickboxing - this was just a straightforward cardio-kickboxing routine. The Fifth segment was "power yoga' - so your usual vinyasa sun salutation series. At the end she threw in some chair poses and warriors. Before doing the yoga though, I did lower body and upper body from Amy's 10 Min. Solution workout that uses the figure 8 resistance band. I liked both of these segments and felt they worked well to get me some more work in those areas that seemed to need it! I think I will do the butt/hip routine at some point this week. The figure 8 would make a great travel workout/device. So, this summer, I will have to pack it along. Sometimes 10 min exercise segments are easier to do than 20 or 30! So, I'm on the fence about 5 Day Get Fit Mix. Not a bad workout, just not sure of where it would fit in to my regular rotations. It works for what I"m doing this week - my 10 Min Solutions, but just not sure how to make it work in other rotations. Tomorrow, I'm either doing cardio or cardio & pilates. If I do cardio I'm thinking of another virgin 10 Min Solution - the kickboxing one w/ the weighted gloves. Or, I may do the dance one......Decisions, decisions. I'll basically see how my back feels, tonight is swim lessons for DD and that always hurts my back - yes, I know it is crazy, but the chairs they have there are so uncomfortable =- I end up standing/walking around AND, then I usually help her shower, dry off and change - oh the forward bending! Hope everyone has a great day - I got back from the dentist just now, have to go back in a couple of weeks to have a filling repaired. Then, in about 30 minutes I have to run DD to the eye doctor.
