Guest guest
Cheryl, I am glad that you voiced your opinion because I, too, do cardio everyday-I must have misunderstood both the book and Hussman, a double whammy. I normally do the high intensity about 5 times per week, even before weight training. I also do cardio almost everyday, moderately on two days of the week at least. Looks like it was a big no no. :-)
Guest guest
Cheryl, the Cardio-aholic.....:=) okay if you want to live in the gym. Not very efficient and can interfere with your results. Kit
Guest guest
GEEZ, Kit!! I thought I was doing something right - very new to this and did not think I was overdoing it - now I am rethinking my workouts and having a Come to Jesus talk with my PT tomorrow A.M. to be sure of what I am doing. I have only had two sessions with him and I have not asked alot of questions yet, but he's going to be blasted with them tomorrow!! He doesn't know that I do the cardio before the WT - I usually get there before him and just hop on it! I don't live in the gym - I'm only there about an hour to an hour and a half each morning. Thanks for the info - I will put it to good use! Feeling really stupid right now..... Cheryl the Cardio-aholic (hahaha)
Guest guest
If you do choose to do moderate cardio on your weight training days, always do it AFTER your weight training. Otherwise, your weight training really suffers. Tina *********** REPLY SEPARATOR *********** On 3/20/01 at 5:45 PM Cheryl Letner wrote: >GEEZ, Kit!! I'm usually pressed for time. I have learned that I do much better at squats when I stretch before lifting. Yep, thats what I do, only 10 mns works better for me. I do much better on my weights if I stretch and do 10mn light(not moderate, but light cardio to warm up.....my muscles arent happy campers when I hit the weights cold. ~~
Guest guest
As far as extra cardio goes, I think it's all a matter of what your goals are. If you're trying to lose a lot of fat, then I'd say extra cardio is a really, really good idea. If you're trying to build muscle mass then it's probably not a good idea. If you're trying to do both simultaneously... well, you need to find the balance that's right for you. Personally my goal right now is to get my body fat % under 10% (I want the abs!), so I do 20 minutes of light-moderate cardio after my UBWs. I've also added an extra interval to my HIIT sessions. I do NOT do any cardio after LBW as I find it overtrains my legs and makes me tired for the next day's HIIT session. If I overdo the cardio, I notice the difference at the gym on my lifting days. So I try not to overdo it... and I make sure to get enough protein to try to miminize muscle losses from the extra cardio. Anyway, I notice greater decreases in my body fat % when I do the extra aerobic versus when I don't. Jon
