We just went through this. Genetics said 80 percent of the time you won't find

" cvid gene " . We did cord blood test for IgM and CBC. Tell your OB and call lab

to coordinate. I was literally still pushing baby out when Dr. asked me which

tube top color. and how to write IgM order!!

We get our baby checked every 6 weeks. We only draw bloods when he is sick--and

then we run subsets, quigs, et al. We will be retesting at 1 year.

We didn't do live vaccines but did all others.

Also, I strongly suggest cord blood banking. We went w/ Stemcyte but there are

others. Ask if they have sibling donor match program.

Most important...Don't worry. Enjoy your pregnancy and sleep well knowing the

baby is protected by your immune system. Nurse, limit visits, sanitize and

you'll have a buffer till you figre things out.

Good luck

Re: CVID In Multiple Kids

Thanks for all the responses I've gotten. I really appreciate it. My husband and

I just found out I'm 4 weeks pregnant and so of course I'm a bit worried about

the baby's health given the fact my daughter has CF & CVID. I suspect there is a

genetic component to CVID, they just haven't identified the genomes that cause

it yet like they have with CF. We'll just have to wait and see and keep our

fingers crossed.

family to have CVID? My daughter, Cassidy, has CF & CVID. I know that with CF

there's always a 1 in 4 chance that any child my husband and I have will end up

with CF. I'm wondering if it's similar odds for CVID or if there's a 100 percent

certainty or whatever. I'd appreciate any info you guys can share!
