Guest guest
Hello. I'm new to this group and have only listened to a handful of the podcasts. I was hooked from the beginning. I'm 24, 4'11, and about 130lbs. I would like to lose 15-20lbs But that's not why I'm posting. I just wanted to share how this is helping me with school. I'm a court reporting student. Very briefly, my school works like this: I have 2 1/2 years roughly to write 225 wpm. I am in my 100 wpm class. After I pass 6 tests at 100 wpm, I will move on to my 120 class and so on and so forth. Every day I get a 5 minute dictation test. The goal of course it to pass those 6 tests asap. So you can imagine we put a lot of pressure on ourselves. Test anxiety is very common. So this is what happens. Say I've been in the 80 speed class for 8weeks. I finally have gotten to 80wpm from 60. After the anxiety of tests everyday, I'm very proud of myself for passing. I pass the 6 tests and suddenly I'm taking a 100 wpm test everyday. Of course you can't gain 20wpm overnight, so for months usually, you fail a test everyday. This really takes a toll on your ego and eventhough it's practice that is going to make you succeed, your so down that you don't want to. I've been stuck in this rut for a while. But this podcast has helped me so much. It is so encouraging. I love how the first step is to accept yourself right now. I take everything she says and really think about it. And it all makes sense! Of course this is helping with my weightless challenge, but equally if not more important, it's helping me with school which is so hard on me now. I just wanted to share my story because I think it's important to apply these ways of thinking outside weightloss!
