Guest guest
I was wondering what thoughts were on going to do errands or to social events after infusion has been started. Is there any reason why I shouldn't take Tristen out? I have before, but usually in her stroller to the store and only a few times. I'm asking because we infuse on Thursday mornings, since that's the time that works best. But I may sign up for bible study on thursday mornings and would take Tristen to the church child care. I would still like to infuse on Thursday mornings since that's our routine, but haven't decided on how I feel about her being with other kids during her infusion. Any Thoughts? le Tristen 4 1/2, CVID SubQ
Guest guest
I wouldn't go it for several reasons, other kids could pull out the sites or at the very least pull on the tubes and cause skin ripping. It advertises to other children she is " weaker " and she may be teased about it. You also need to keep an eye on your child in case of a severe allergic reaction and the nursery staff has not been trained in having SCIG issues and I'm guessing there liability insurance would not allow them to care for her duing an infusion. Just change your infusion day, really, its not a big deal to move it 3 days either side of your regular day. Guest guest
I would not! Especially if you were thinking of leaving her somewhere. I am SURE the staff would not be willing to accept her while you are at Bible Study. It would be unreasonable to even ask. This is a medical procedure and needs to be looked at that way. It is rare but sudden severe reactions can happen and that is why you should have a EPI PEN with you. Also other children could accidentally pull out the infusion. A bad idea all around. Just change your day. We do it 3 days either way with NO problems although it is good to have a routine and it keeps the levels more steady.
