Guest guest
Since autism is apparently caused by a VARIETY of factors (some environmental, some genetic, some who knows?), it would be hard to say... I am a parent of 2 children with autism who are not twins. They are five years apart, one a boy and one a girl. They do not have the same " flavor " of autism...in fact, they are almost total opposites in their expressions of autism. Both are now considered more able (I hate the term " high functioning " ). In our case, we have been told it IS genetic...we have seen a geneticist. Both kids have numerous physical anomalies that are one of the things geneticists look at when determining if a condition is genetic or not. It is normal to have 2 or 3 anomalies that aren't inherited, but usually not more than that. My kids both have 8 or 9 each. For those who are interested, a physical anomaly is a physical characteristic that is unique to the child and is often seen in genetic disorders...for example, individuals with Down Syndrome have many anomalies such as short stature, flat head in the back, wide, fat fingers and toes, only one crease at the top of their palms called a simian crease (most people have two), and epicanthal folds in the corners of their eyes (these are the things that give them the " look " of someone with Down Syndrome). Some genetic disorders have a " look " . My kids just have a variety of little oddities that told the geneticist that something genetic was going on...but it hasn't specifically been identified because not all genetic things have blood tests for them. So...if your child's autism was caused probably by environmental things (like vaccines), then I would think the chances wouldn't be as great of having another. If it is genetic, then the answer is significantly different. Has your child with autism visited the geneticist? nna
Guest guest
>What are my chances of having another that is autistic? Should I hold out for first vaccinations?< Have you done thorough research on the dangers of vaccines for certain individuals? After Tristan regressed into autism I did, and have been able to convince my other child and his wife to not vaccinate their children. They are healthy and bright. A good group to join for information and support is vaccinations If your child regressed after vaccines it probably would be better to not vaccinate this one, and also resist getting any yourself. I think they are pressuring pregnant women to get the flu shot, and also the Rhogam shots have a considerable amount of mercury. A friend of mine is convinced her son was born with autism because she received more than Rhogam shots during her preganancy.
Guest guest
My first child never regressed I also think he was born with autism. He was completely different from my second child. He never talked on time, he always seemed to be never completely there. After my second child was born there was a night and day difference. He was always smiling and interacting and though slow to talk can now not stop talking and is like the big brother to his big brother..So when you say not to get vaccinations does that mean even after 2 years of age, you never vaccinate the child? Guest guest
I live in Sugar Land and my son's pediatrician is Louis Pottkotter 281-265- 7800. We are not giving any vaccinations to our baby and he has been very supportive in our decision. He asked once a month ago if we were still rejecting the vaccinations and that was it. It is a relieve to be able to take the baby to his check ups with no harrasments. As I posted months ago, we decided to have a home delivery to avoid any confrontations with the hospital, the OB/GYN and the on-call pediatrician. It is still the best decision I have made in my life. I do believe that my son was at risk when he was born due to all the unnecessary interventions (pitocin, reaction to epidural, a difficult delivery, a rubella shot I received after delivery) and the HepB vaccine he received at birth. Now the baby is 7 and a half months and we can tell already that there are significant differences between the two kids. The baby is so aware of his environment that it blows my mind. When he looks at your face you can tell that he is really studying your facial features. No colic, relatively easy going baby, except still breastfeeding every two - three hours! I know we are still no out of the woods yet, but at least we are having good signs. Just an FYI, the baby got a cold and an ear infection developed. I put some drops of breastmilk in his ears three times a day and when we went back to the pediatrician two days later his ears were completely clear.
