Kombucha Age, Mold & more Questions

Hello:

My first question is how long can a SCOBY live in the Kombucha in the

refrigerator? I have one that is about 1 year old. I recently made Kombucha

and it got moldy. I've never had mold making Kombucha before.

Secondly, where do I get a new SCOBY if mine is too old?

I went to Vitamin Cottage this week planning to buy my favorite kombucha as a

treat. I was told it's been removed from the shelves due to it's alcohol

content and because it's not pasturized. I am sorry to see it come to this. I

need to start brewing my own again.
