Guest guest
Hi, Tristen has been on SubQ for the past 2 years (she's 5 1/2). My husband just switched jobs and insurance and we are now finding out that SubQ is not covered under our medical plan or Rx plan and have to switch to IVIG. I'm a little frustrated since she will now be missing 1 day of school a month and her levels won't be as stable as when on SubQ. What do I need to know about switching to IVIG? Tristen has only done SubQ, so I'm not sure what to expect. How long does it usually take? How do you decide between every 4 weeks and every 3 weeks? How should I prepare Tristen for the change? We're trying to get this taken care of ASAP. Tristen has now gone 2 weeks without her infusion, due to a 10 day lapse in insurance and now dealing with coverage issues. She is now sick with a sinus infection and starts school on Monday. I'm trying really hard not to freak out about all this, but it just seems to be a little much at the moment. I'm worried about how much school she's really going to miss and how the switch to IV will affect her. Any insight would be helpful. Thanks, le mom to: Tristen 5: CVID, asthma, peanut allergy Kaitlyn 8: healthy
