Hi everyone,

At the London conference on September 12th, to coincide

with Jane Georgiou's talk Biomed on a

Shoestring: Saving and Funding, Treating Autism

will be launching our Swap Shop Table. Please bring with you any

unwanted autism books, CDs, magazines, DVDs, unwanted supplements,

autism toys or other clean used toys and children's clothes in good

condition – or anything really that you think might somehow help

another family with autism. All of the items on the Swap Shop

table will be available to buy for a small donation to Treating

Autism or for exchange for something that you brought to leave on

the table.

We are hoping to: save waste by

recycling your old autism stuff; help you to save money by picking

up some bargains (exchange your old stuff for new or take

something in exchange for a donation to TA); help you to get hold

of less toxic goods (toxins probably washed out of 2nd hand

stuff); recycling means a less toxic world for our kids to grow up

in! and finally any money raised from the Table will

go specifically to a fund that will give families in need a chance

to attend future conferences. Every penny.

When you get to the conference, you'll find the Swap Shop Table

located just beside the Treating Autism Table. If you've brought

any items to donate, just leave them on the table and be sure to

take a look around to see if there is anything you might want to

exchange for. If you see an item that you think might be useful

to your family and you haven't brought any items to exchange, or if

you just happen to have some money burning a hole in your

pocket, please do make a small donation into the Funds Tin.

It is our intention to make the Swap

Shop Table a permanent fixture at our conferences--helping

families, helping the environment, and maybe helping you clear out

an extra shelf in a cupboard!

Thank you and don't forget your

second-hand stuff,

Sara
