Well, interestingly enough, shortly after reading Jerry's stone story

I started feeling bad. THought it might be the cold I have had

getting worse. So around 6:30 I took a hot shower and put my jammies

on. Still felt bad. Thought I better check on my Nyquil supply - OUT!

drats! Nyquil is my drug of choice for the common cold symptoms.

ANyway, I started to feel even worse. My back was really hurting -

more toward the right side. I got the girls to bed around 8:00 and

then the pain hit so bad all I could do is get on all fours and try

to breath - like I was in labor! I could not talk the pain was so

bad. Around 8:30 I could finally talk and called my mom - my DH was

at work. She said she thought it sounded like a stone. Oh great! THe

pain continued on for several hours at a more tolerable level and I

drank a ton of water. Today I am sore but ok. NOt sure what it was

and I am not looking for a repeat performance.

Lee,

" Been there, done that, got the t-shirt! " Sure sounds like you passed a

stone. That's about what my first " incident " felt like last June, though

we were never able to confirm that. This one was almost that bad, but the

pain was on the other side. At least this time they were able to confirm

it was a stone. Now we're waiting on the pathology report to find out what

kind.

Now for the interesting part. Suggested thearpy to prevent future stones

is to INCREASE your calcim intake and drink lots of fluids. When Dee told

me that, I was a little shocked, since most stones are calcium oxcalate

based. (I think I spelled that right.) However, I had also done some

internet research and found the same advice on a couple medical sites

including the ADA site.

Anyway, I'm now up to 2500mg calcium a day. You may want to talk to Dee or

about what happened and get their guidance. The more I talk with

those two, the more convinced I am that they should be one of the first to

contact when something wierd is happening and it might be ds based. They

have a wealth of knowledge available and have Dr. K. and Dr. Z. to fall

back on if we hit them with something they haven't encountered before.

Lee, if you weren't in pain...I'd give you a lecture on safely handling

something like this! As it is, I think it probably sounds like you were

jealous of the attention Jerry was getting and decided to match him! Just

kidding. I hope you NEVER have a repeat of these symptoms and that you are all

better now!

Hugs and blessings, Ann
