Hi fellow Thrivers. I'M HOPING FOR YOUR INPUT TO MY CONDITION.

Because of a continuing esophageal constriction of my throat (do to age, acid reflux scar tissue etc.) and several bouts with getting food stuck at the opening of my esophagus, sometimes for 24 hours or more keeping me from swallowing anything......even saliva, I had to make several visits to the ER over the past few years.

Now I can't even swallow my meds without fear of getting them stuck so.........I've began putting them in an electric coffee grinder, ginding them to a fine powder and mixing them with a tasty liquid shake of some kind. This has made it much easier for me and no more choking or coughing.

Before I did this, I called the Walgreens pharmacy(18th @ Castro) to ask if grinding up all of my meds together would be all right. They didn't know but offered to call the manufacturers of all of my meds (which I thought was a wonderful thing to do) and then call me back with the information.

They called back and said the manufactures had no studies involving the effects of doing this with meds. I told the pharmacist that I guess I'll do my own study and she told me to let her know the outcome. She also told me that many of my med came in liquid form.

I've been doing this for about two months now and I do my next EVAL in July. It's then that I'll find out if my viral load (now undetectable) and my T-cells (now 385) have changed.

THE FEEDBACK......

I am CERTAINLY not recommending this procedure for anybody else but I would love to know if anyone else has ever tried this and if so what were the results.

I would also enjoy some personal opinions .

If helping me with this problem by giving me your FEEDBACK interests you, let me know for at this point in my life, I'll never be able to go back to swallowing any of my HIV meds without first turning them into powder.
