So..it appears the Donovan (11, CVID, asthma) has coxsackie. It was strange, bc

I was worried about my younger son (9, cvid, asthma) when over the weekend he

developed that awful croupy cough and couldnt catch his breath.

Sunday night, Donovan had a slight cough, so when I made an appt for Brennan on

Monday, I went ahead and made one for Donovan as well. At the time I made the

appt, he had a slight cough and complained of a lumpy throat.

So I took both boys in yesterday, and while its sinopulmonary crap as ususal for

Brennan, the dr shined a light in Donovans throat to show me....I dont know. Its

the weirdest looking thing...like a bright red petechaiel (sp?) rash all over

the roof of his mouth and back of throat.

His temp went from nonexistant to 100 to 103 in less than 8 hours.

His throat is so incredibly swollen and painful he cannot swallow, and the drs

given him Tylenol #3 for the throat pain.

If he breaks out in any other rash, or bleeds from anywhere, he needs to go

straight back in.

He woke up this morning at 3, feeling dizzy and unable to swallow, great drops

of tears running down his face. I felt so sorry for him.

I wish IVIG was this week, its not till the 15th.

Im trying to keep him isolated in the bedroom, as I have two other kids with

CVID in this house and I cant imagine what it would be like if they all got it.
