She had a terribly sore throat and high fever. When I looked in her mouth (thinking I would see white spots) I was shocked when I looked in to see her entire roof of her mouth and throat were covered with petichiai (I cannot spell that word). We took her to the doc and it was strep throat. The doc said strep is not always white pus filled spots, but can also look like this. Can't tell you if that is what you are dealing with.....just sharing our experience with the same. She did get better quickly with antibiotics. Hope your kiddos feel better soon! The wheezing and coughing is bad (he had to take prednisone), but the pain in the throat and mouth is the worst. It took three weeks each time to be able to go back to his full diet. You're right, though, it takes our kiddos so much longer than typical kids to get over anything. He's taken a little yogurt, a little pudding, and a few bites of chicken noodle soup today. Certainly not enough, but at least he isn't dehydrated. Been pushing juice and water....it just hurts him so much to swallow. I worry about dehydration, bc it seems to hit him hard when it happens. I havent seen him pee in a while, so..... what I hate is that I literally CANT miss school....my phlebotomy teacher is already threatening to fail me bc I have to miss next wednesday for IVIG...well, what can I do about that? seriously. But I really hate leaving the boys home sick. My husband is here, but he's not the one who does all this stuff....meds dont get done on time, or he doesnt remember what time this or that happened, YKWIM? I want to be here bc I know what Im doing, this has been my job for ten years. I am hoping his infusion helps him get over it. Unless they refuse to let me bring him...if he's still contagious next week...wow, that would really suck. thanks for sharing your story. I have seven kids with special needs (only one with CVID), so I have to leave them with my dh fairly often, with one or more of them sick at times. I spell it all out, including times, and we use a timer for the fluids I leave the med schedule, and he crosses it off when it is done. I also do this for myself when the kids are sick, because with so many kids, it is easier for me not to make any mistakes for extra meds, KWIM? Because I do this, too, he just does it as a matter-of-course, not like he is the only one writing it down Maybe you could do something similar?? Guest guest Posted February 7, 2012 Report Share Posted February 7, 2012 ok, you beat me:) I only have four kids (and they all have medical issues). lol I left a schedule, and I reminded him before I left, and I texted home between classes....and he said he decided to just let the boys sleep, since they were sick (of course, that meant he got to sleep late, too) so the meds I expected them to have at 930 this morning, they didnt get till after 12, which put my whole med schedule for them off. Its not like they are going to die from it, but it bugs me, YKWIM? You're right, though, it takes our kiddos so much longer than typical kids to get over anything. He's taken a little yogurt, a little pudding, and a few bites of chicken noodle soup today. Certainly not enough, but at least he isn't dehydrated. Been pushing juice and water....it just hurts him so much to swallow. I worry about dehydration, bc it seems to hit him hard when it happens. I havent seen him pee in a while, so..... what I hate is that I literally CANT miss school....my phlebotomy teacher is already threatening to fail me bc I have to miss next wednesday for IVIG...well, what can I do about that? seriously. But I really hate leaving the boys home sick. My husband is here, but he's not the one who does all this stuff....meds dont get done on time, or he doesnt remember what time this or that happened, YKWIM? I want to be here bc I know what Im doing, this has been my job for ten years. I am hoping his infusion helps him get over it. Since last night, his chest has been sounding progressively worse...Ive been on the asthma since the beginning...but now he is sounding really wet and junky in his chest, cant stop coughing despite tx....called his pulmo, she is starting him on prednisone for at least a week...and started him on zithro, just in case. My youngest has been battling a sinopulmonary infection/asthma all week...put him on at least another week of pred, and at least one more round of zithro. tonight, I came home and my 14 year old had put herself to bed...stomach hurts, migraine, backache..and a temp of 100.5.
