Pretty mystifying. CA. was really on the banwaygon to learn about how

often this was occurring. I think they said last year they diagnosed 9 kids

a day with autism just in that state alone. Those stats are nation wide, some

areas have higher incidence. I feel its already out of control, but seems

like there is not enough being done to find out why, or implement services.

The school distr. are already swapped and in over there heads on this.

They should all be asking for Federal Grants to implement special diets

and to increase their staff training, as well extend to parental training.

It has to be environmental factors, including vaccines. Today children are

receiving 30 more vaccines as infant/toddlers; more than most of us adults

did.

Off the subject, I did hear a DR speak at a conference, that our environment

is so toxic ie: more automobile fumes etc.. That we all need to be detoxing

our bodies EVERYDAY!! Eating organic foods, cutting out processed foods,

and prepackaged foods, etc...

Toxins accumulate faster in a young child than an adult, and the same goes

for vaccinating an infant with undeveloped immune/neurological system.

Its insane to vaccinate newborns with the Hep -B vaccine the day they are

born

unless the Mother has Hep. B or lives in an undeveloped country.

Just another example of toxins I want to give to women; who might think they

are doing something to improve their skin.

The new Microdermabraision treatment, thinking your improving your skin.

Well, yes but wait a minute... The crystal grains that are coming from the

machine is Aluminum Oxide, which is known for causing Alzheimer's and other

Immune/Neurological disorders. Long time treatments can also cause lung

damage from inhaling these crystals, getting a crystal in your eye can cause

a corneal eye abrasion.

This past Saturday I attended a workshop on Generalization of Learned Skills

as a frequently overlooked component in the treatment of autism at the

University of Houston and toward the end of the workshop the presenter, Dr.

Gerald

, BCBA asked the group if there were any questions or comments anyone had

and what I heard next sent a chill down my spine.. there were attendees from

the Hempstead School District present and a few more from other school

districts who asked the doctor to his knowledge did he know of any educational

programs in place to train school district teachers in the treatment and

education of

kids on the autism spectrum...he said none that he knows of. Then one of

these attendees went on to say how difficult the task has become because there

has been such an explosion in the number of kids with the disorder entering the

school system. Others agreed and then said that just 10 years ago we wouldn't

be sitting here discussing this topic because it was more rare. I too, am

speechless.

If Dr. had any knowledge of programs he wasn't forth coming for

whatever reason, however, the people from Hempstead ISD are the ones who need to

know about these programs because they are going to have to be the ones to get

their superintendent or administrators to foot the bill to get them training.

I'm not trying to sound like a pushover but the women who were in this workshop

sounded and looked genuinely sadden by their ineptness to deal with the

situation. One of them said they have budgeted for 2.6 people for special

training

so at least there is a willingness there that's more than I can say for the

school my son is zoned for in Fort Bend ISD. But my point earlier was to

emphasize the staggering increase in the number of kids with autism...what's

happening? I feel like I'm in a disaster/epidemic horror movie, please someone

wake

me up!

I hate to disagree with the Dr. but there are workshops held in Dallas and

Austin on training teachers and to deal with Autism and I know definitely of

a very well respect BCBA here in Houston that has a grant to go into the

Schools to train them to use ABA in the classrooms.
