My daughter was here for 3 days, and only 30 minutes after she left, I felt some- thing wet on my side and looked down to find a good deal of blood from armpit to hip. I went in the bathroom to examine it and it just poured out from the end of an incision under my arm. I packed a handtowel under the arm and called good ole Donna to come to my rescue. She took me to ER. What nice staff they have at Twin Cities. First nurse knew all about the DS, second nurse complimented the inside stitching, and the (woman) doc assured me I should have come in. She also spoke to Dr K and commented that he was very nice. It stopped bleeding, but apparently I should forego fixing breakfast for awhile! I have to keep the armpit closed, while elevating my arm in front of me. Try that for about 30 minutes! Hot compresses - and my favorite use for Kotex - used as a pressure bandage! Then ace bandage. No pain, and it'll all be fine in 2-3 days. I hope any of you single folks have just one friend like Donna to come to your aid.
