Re: 's weigh in today

Eating is the hard part, huh. It is for me too. Last week I did 11.5 hours of exercise but only went down 1 lb due to eating out at restaurants. Luckily this can be reversed. Eat clean and in 2 weeks you'll be back in the 170's. You can do it! Hugs!

Well, I had 3 bad eating days this week so I knew I would have to pay the price for it. I am up 3.6 pounds, back to 183 again. I hit this weight originally back in January and have just been hovering near ever since. I hit the 170's but just can't seem to stay there. I have going to have to kick myself in the butt and move forward from here. Have a great day everyone.

Not a good one today. I'm not sure why. I didn't even have any Easter candy or anything that I wasn't supposed to. I am up 1.6 pounds to 174. How depressing. I guess I may have to seriously cut my calories down. I don't like to do that because then I get so hungry, but this just ain't working. Right now I have been staying around 1500 calories a day, I may have to go down to 1200 and see what happens. I am not going to work today because I have to go to jury duty today. I hate jury duty, it is an hour and half drive one way into Fresno and then who knows what will happen from there, I'd rather go to work. I did 40 minutes on my exercise bike last nite. Have a great day everyone.

I agree with Donna on this .  If you go to low your body could go into starvation mode and hold onto the fat it does have. Totally agree with Donna on might need more calories.  I personally think that zig-zagging is a great way to do it.  It " tricks " your body's metabolism so your Basal metabolic rate doesn't adjust down from the lack of calories.  Eating a higher calorie day once or twice a week will keep it guessing and keep your body burning more calories.  By higher calories, I mean a few hundred, not a whole lot, but some.  You could figure out how many calories you should be eating a week, and then divide your days into it.

Hi ,

Try not to stress about the 1.6 lbs - it could really be anything - water retention, etc.  There are really total ups and downs to weight loss.  A couple of years ago, in my attempt to overcome the scale's hold on me - I weighed myself every single day and the fluctuations from day to day were crazy - I know there is no way to gain or lose 3-5 lbs overnight - so it could be that you jsut had a bad weigh in and in reality that 1.6 lbs could be gone by now. Also, the week before, didn't you ahve a large loss? Sometimes the body compensates - you know the two steps forward, one step back thing.

I would hesitate to restrict your calories even more - 1500 is already pretty low and if you go too low you may end up slowing your metabolism down plus, it is difficult to get all the nutrients you need on a low calorie diet.  I know it is counter-intuitive but you may actually need more calories to trick your body into releasing more weight.  Another idea is to vary your calories form day to day to keep your body in a 'guessing " mode - set a calorie total for the week and one day do 1200, one day 1800, one day 1500, etc.  just to keep your body on its toes.

Also, adding in more strength training would help too since it builds muscle which increases your resting metabolic rate.

Try not to be discouraged, though!   You're doing all the right things, but sometimes our bodies just need to " catch up " ((HUGS))

Hi ,

Did you have ham on Easter? If so, you could just be retaining a lot of water. Ham is VERY salty and you could easily be retaining quite a lot of water (pounds worth, not ounces). I did 3 Weight Watchers meetings today and 3 yesterday too and way more people gained weight than is usual. Part of that is, no doubt, due to too much indulgence but a lot of it I'm sure is also water weight and a lot of people, especially if they stick to their plan, will be down nicely next week. You could be one of those.

Cutting calories too far, on a regular basis, will backfire. Not might, WILL. Your metabolism will slow waaaaaay down in response because you need a certain amount of calories in order to allow your body to drop pounds. Since you're exercising too, you need to make sure you eat enough. Eating less does NOT equal losing more. One week's lousy weigh-in does not signify a trend either and I do not recommend anyone do anything drastic based on one week's weigh-in, especially not just after a big holiday (with salty foods).

(seriously exhausted after a loooong day, loooooon weekend too... am sleeping in a bit instead of working out tomorrow morning, if I have time later in the afternoon or evening I'll work out but right now, sleep is my priority)

you continue to inspire me!  What do you eat on a typical day these days?I would LOVE to weigh 162!  Currently at 177...On Tue, Jun 29, 2010 at 5:29 AM, Navarro <navarrosarah@...> wrote:

Yay,  finally I had a decent weigh in.  Today I am down 4.8 pounds from last week for a weight of 162.  For some reason the last two weeks I had some mystery pounds hanging on from somewhere.  I am so excited, only 3 pounds more to be in the 150's.  I haven't gotten this low ever before.  I gained weight when i was pregnant with my 27 year old son and have kept it ever since.  Have a great day everyone.
