I have sort of the same problems. If I exercise a lot, I tend to get more depressed. In my case, I think that this is due to the increase of testosterone in the system with its attendant increase in certain drives. Since those drives aren't met, then it causes depression. I've also been eating a lot of fish lately. Perhaps that is also part of the reason for the depression lately. I won't say more though, since that obviously makes people uncomfortable on here. Guest guest
" The most effective way of raising serotonin levels is with vigorous exercise. Studies have shown that serotonin levels are increased with increased activity and the production of serotonin is increased for some days after the activity. This is the safest way of increasing serotonin levels and many other benefits result from regular exercise. " This does not work for me. I believe that what is stated above works for people who are non- autistic, but if people with autistic brains have brains that are structured differently, than it is unlikely that what works for others works for them. Guest guest
> I actually cannot excercise either. If I excercise one day I have this weird thing where my muscles over grow. With a few weeks of regular excercise I look like a tiny german weight lifter(in my legs anyway) that alone depresses me. Inactivity works better. But when i have to i can walk 8 hours stright. I have in emergency car situations(no training or getting ready) then for 2 days later I must recover. this is my preferred method in addition although I am vegan i also eat very few varied varieties of veggies. Peas brocolli, almonds walnuts, cucumbers scallions garlic, tomatoes (not too many acidity0 many things i cannot eat a lot of. Milk makes me sick so it was no biggie to let go of it but soy while more tolerable cannot be eaten regularly. I gain weight at a seemingly ridiculous rate when i eat bread (even one slice) as you said very succinctly (sp) foods nor drugs have ever acted as they were intended. many a " cure " has made me more unwell and often this is my basis of discounting the medical community. they always got it wrong in the past. which of course makes me feel more alien and outcast, even my physiogomy argues with NT standards. Perhaps it is only assumptions that cause any difference in opinion. perhaps meat not withstanding our experinces are far more similar than they seem. I think I had confused serotonin with that oxitocin therapy. i think I thought there was a correlation( i have been out of it and not my usual reading self) been feeling lost and a bit depressed sorry for the confusion. The gist was meat with a combination of grain makes the body produce serotonin, which causes " happiness " (chemically speaking) but the ratio may be off or it may work for some and not others. perhaps fish makes one depressed because of contaminated waters. unles you were refering to cold water fish specifically. heavy food like turkey (actually made me quite " unhappy " as does the full feeling (vanity might factor into that reaction)
