Guest guest
Hi , My 13-year-old daughter started resperidal about four months ago after already being on 100 mg of zolof. Her issues were eating disorder related, disorted thoughts about people. We were amazed how those thought subsided after only a few weeks. She is now doing extremely well with those thoughts and we are basically dealing with her anxiety OCD issues. She did have some dizziness at the beginning, but now only seems to have a headache everynow and then but nothing too major and often. Good luck and I hope it works for your daughter. Guest guest
Our experience was not good, but I have read and met several people for whom it made a huge diffence - mainly for aggression. I am concerned about the use for eating disorders as it tends to pack on the weight and both of my kids put weight on from it. My daughter also had eating rages were I had to physically keep her out of the kitchen as with other antipychs the satiation message never gets to the brain from the stomach. Just " food " for thought. Laurie
Guest guest
Hi , My daughter was on Risperdal and we had to discontinue due to akathisia and lots of drooling. I have heard of lots of excellent outcomes with this med, except for the weight gain that most children experience on it.(My daughter tends to respond to many meds paradoxically) Hugs Judy

Guest guest
Hi - My son(8) is on .25 in AM and .50 at bedtime(well and hour before). It has done wonders for him. Most of his issues are related to spectrum stuff, but he was experiancing OCD symptoms in many areas as well. It scared me as well when I started-but my son has done really well with it. It mostly helps him control his temper and hitting etc-not so much with his OCD issues- but all issues have come down quite a bit-so I think overall its been good for us. I have only wished we had started it sooner-as he has already learned many wrong coping techniques he has taught himself- and now we are just trying to unlearn them with other better coping mechanisms. Which is hard-had we had been on Resperdal sooner-he might not have taught himself so many bad techniques-kwim? Guest guest
--- I am glad he found the drug for him. That can be quite the time consuming process. We have spent two years on SSRIs, which don't work. You are right, my DD with the OCD still has OCD but her defiance and hitting have come down some. I hesitated to put her on this and wanted her to cope cold turkey because of the side effects. YOu bring up a good point, that there are risks in not treating as well. I would never thought I would say anything positive about any of the medications. I hope we have saem reaction you do. Did he try SSRIS?
