Guest guest
,I would avoid taking calcium carbonate with Reyataz, as the absorption of Reyataz is reduced in the presence of antacids, and calcium carbonate is an antacid. Although this interaction is not mentioned in the prescribing information for Reyataz, they do recommend avoiding other antacids close in time to the dosing of Reyataz. Presumably, calcium citrate does not reduce stomach acid to the same extent, so it would probably be OK to take with Reyataz. I'm not aware of other HIV drugs that are adversely affected by antacids.I, too have heard that it is best to split your doses of calcium for maximum absorption.*********************************************************************************************************I read yesterday recommending not taking calcium together with HIV meds because of possible absorption issues. Also read recommendation to avoid tenofovir. While you were addressing someone else, it seemed like you might be talking to me as well. Did I get that right? I was thinking Calcium needs to be split dosed instead of once daily. Do I need to add a 3rd time to take pills? My habits are pretty good, but hard to change... Thanks for your insight. I really appreciate reading messages in this group.
