Guest guest
I am 57yo male, diagnosed HIV+ 11+ years, on Atripla (and before that was on Sustiva & Truvada, same thing as I understand it) about 6 years. I don't think I've missed a dose in 5 years. Dual diagnosed HCV+ genotype 2B & 3A, took Interferon & Ribavarin 48 weeks in 2003-2004. That was the year from hell but I have been HCV undectable since. Also had external KS lesions, cleared after starting ARVs 10ish years ago. In May 2011 CD4 was 1223, highest it's been in a decade I think. Also in May I had dexa scan and got Osteopenia diagnosis, PCP started me on 1000mg Calcium plus 400IU Vit D daily, which I have been taking since. I only take meds twice a day at breakfast & bedtime. I have been taking the Calcium/Vit D combo in one pill dosed 1/2 in the morning & 1/2 in the evening. I take my Atripla with my bedtime meds. My CD4 from 2 weeks ago dropped to 940. Calcium was 2.20. I read yesterday recommending not taking calcium together with HIV meds because of possible absorption issues. Also read recommendation to avoid tenofovir. While you were addressing someone else, it seemed like you might be talking to me as well. Did I get that right? I was thinking Calcium needs to be split dosed instead of once daily. Do I need to add a 3rd time to take pills? My habits are pretty good, but hard to change... Thanks for your insight. I really appreciate reading messages in this group.
