Joe my Ferritin was below the normal range and my Iron levels were OK but from

what I know about this if your Ferritin levels are low you need Iron pills.

Here is a link to Hypopituitary Problem the forum is closed but the site if full

of info about Pituitary Problems the guy that did work helped me a lot.

Read all the links in this it will help you understand this Problem.

Hi Amy, You are too fixated on treating the symptoms and not concentrating on

removing the cause of the disease.  The symptoms will come and go until all the

bugs are gone.  And that can only be achieved with doing the antibiotic

protocol.  The purpose for taking the antibiotic protocol is to weaken

the bacteria/virus so that the immune system will regain its' strengthen and do

the work.of killing the bugs.  By using Plaquenil & Prednisone you are further

depleting the Immune system. By relying on Plaquenil & Prednisone, you are

stretching the problem and may never get to remission that way.  Reaccess your

priorities for better results.  Dolores

Ok, so according to the uneducated nurse to called to give me my CT date and

time, my myositis test was positive and my SLE test that was positive the first

time was negative this time. I have an appointment for my CT next week and with

my rheumatologist in September.

Now, I am on Plaquenil 400 mg and Prednisone 20mg daily, is there anything I

should be asking about? The muscle weakness isn't as bad as it was but I can

feel it coming back. I can feel the rash coming back on my scalp but not on my

chest. The chest pain has eased up but the muscle cramps came back last night. I

think it's because 1.) I missed my supplements yesterday and 2.) I had a mental

meltdown last night.

Amy was your ana or anti dna test for lupus positive. I ask because my ana was

positive but anti dna was negative and they said no lupus in October. I am

retesting these test soon.

I know they tested ANA first and it was positive, I'm not sure what test they

did this time. All he said was my SLE test was negative where it was positive

the first time.

I have some unpleasant detoxing symptoms, in general I feel more normal than I

have in years. Recently, I had to have some lab work done for insurance

purposes through my work. The results showed that my AST and ALT, which I

learned have to do with liver enzymes, are significantly elevated. I am

thinking that this is connected to my increased intake of good fats. What do

you think? And should I be concerned about these numbers being elevated?

+++Hi ,

It is very common for people on this program to have higher liver enzymes

because the liver is one of the major organs responsible for detoxifying your

body.

Yes, it is connected to the increased good fats, since those good fats along

with the rest of the program, are so very important for liver health, so they

actually make the liver more able to detoxify like it should.

Thanks Pam so much. I will try and supplement 10,000 a day of vit D. I haven't

heard people raise their numbers much on 5,000. I had a positive ANA test

recently and need to be tested for lyme and infections as well. I do have the

hair loss and cold hands, feet, energy, depression, thought it was thyroid. I'm

sure my liver needs help and will try some dmg, milk thistle, etc. My liver

enzymes were not elevated in Jan.

Is the doctor's data iodine test kit reputable?

Thanks again,

If your iron is low, thyroid hormones cannot enter the cells and you

will feel hypo... which can affect sleep issues.

Ferritin is pretty low which must make sleep iffy and

Your reverse T3 may indicate that you need to support

my liver is totally healthy which healed up gout

I was recommended to take Solgar's Gentle Iron - you can take at

least 4 a day, and it helps to take it with Vitamin C. But do not

take it at the same time as any thyroid hormone as it will bind to

in and not allow the thyroid to be digested. I have not had

digestion issues from it...

The original poster did not have info on other iron levels, it would not be

prudent to advise iron supplementation based on a ferritin only lab. Iron can

inhibit thyroid meds absorption but it doesn't totally block it. When thyroid

meds are not able to enter the cells properly it can cause the meds to pool in

the blood and will actually cause symptoms of hyper. A ferritin of 32 without

the results of an iron panel and and CBC/diff is not necessarily indicative of

needing iron. Supplementing iron could actually be the wrong thing to do and

lead to more problems. Iodine, B vitamins, Vit C, trace minerals and spirulina

will help iron issues.

Just to clarify on what Lynn says... yes, it is true that you should

have an iron panel done to see what your saturation is and other

markers.

However, Iron only inhibits thyroid in the digestion process as it

binds to the thyroid hormone, so you do need to take it several

hours after taking thyroid medicines.

On the other hand, Iron is what ushers the T3 into each cell where

it can work its job on the cell. If you do not have enough iron

overall in your system, you will not be able to get any thyroid into

each cell period. It is the gate keeper of getting T3 through the

cell membrane.

So in the end, it is very important to know exactly where your iron

level is, but in my estimation, every woman who menstruates is

losing iron every month so the extreme caution about taking iron can

be a little over the top. Women need iron, and most of us do not

get enough. Just be cautious as too much of a good thing, iron, can

cause other problems.

fix it.

Now I am confused.
