Guest guest
Hello Barb, I don't know how the doctors can say anger and aggression are NOT part of OCD; nearly every parent I've talked to has had to deal with their kid sometimes angrily out of control; punching holes in walls, screaming at their parents over what appears to be nothing; even hitting the parent if whatever they're doing is causing their anxiety to get intolerable. My son is on Cymbalta, Risperdal, gabapentin, and Adderall. He says he would be totally lost in the OCD without this stuff; but it does not make him fully functional. He has periods of hours at a time when he can go about doing the things he enjoys, but always afterwards there's some kind of meltdown. Strange you mention insight. My son has had to stop going to the therapist he loves because of his lack of insight into how he needs to trust her to get him through the ERP exercises he finds so painful. He refuses to see anyone else and she wants things of him he can't give, so he's at an impasse. I hope your son finds what he needs from his therapist. I would be interested in what the therapist does to help him gain insight; it might provide a clue as to the kind of beginnings my son needs. Robin barb wrote: > Hi Robin.
