Cassie Wells' workshop, entitled “Working with Siblings”, will provide parents with ideas on how to present information about autism spectrum disorders to siblings and enhance interactions of children with autism spectrum disorders between the ages of 0-12 and their typically developing child by creating structured social opportunities.Cassie Wells, M.Ed., is an autism consultant with the Treatment and Research Institute for Autism Spectrum Disorders (TRIAD) at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. Cassie moved to Atlanta in August of 2005 and spent some time as an educational consultant with the Monarch Program, directed by Sheila Wagner, M.Ed., at the Emory Autism Center before returning to her previous position with TRIAD in February 2006. As an autism consultant at TRIAD since January of 2001, Cassie provides autism specific training for early intervention professionals throughout Tennessee for young children between the ages of 0-5; consultation and training for professionals throughout schools in Tennessee for students ages 5-21; provides training to parents of children ages 0-21. In addition, Cassie was the co-assistant director for TRIAD Social Skills Summer Camp 2006 for children with autism spectrum disorders between the ages of 6-12. Cassie is not only a professional, but also a sibling herself. Her sister, , was diagnosed with Rett’s Disorder, currently under the umbrella of pervasive developmental disorders at the age of 3. , now 23 years old, lives with Cassie’s mother in Tennessee and attends a program for adults during the day.
