Another fun story, - yay!

Wow, a hardcore bodybuilder poo-pooing kettlebells. Shocker. [insert sarcasm

here] LOL! ;) ;) :D

Too funny about the not-actually-a-lawyer guy. I literally LOL-ed at the

" ergo " . Ha!

Sounds like you had a great time and great workout. I'll think of ya when I'm

doing my gym style weights tomorrow. :)

Awesome job on another loss, too! Woo-hoo!!

Hugs,

Sara

Great report, - sounds like a lovely return to FF! :)

Wow, crazy news about Zoa. And yeah, you would think that she would have

listened to Noel - and considering she didn't place very high at the Arnold, I

don't get the logic that she'll do better at the (even more competitive)

Olympia! I'll be sure to check the placing results when the time comes, too.

:)

Looking forward to the Thursday tale!

Hugs,

Sara

I arrived in my work clothes and heard a loud " HI !! "   I think it was , the wrestler who said that - he is the tall, very muscular trainer there, and , the trainer who will never look me in the eye was also there, gaze averted as usual.  Noel looked me up and down and goes " You're wearing a dress!  Did you just get back from the library or something? " I chose to take that as a compliment.   I got to tease him later about always wearing such fashionable Aeropostale tee shirts, his reply " my wife works at the mall and gets these for me!  When I wake up in the morning I just grab a shirt, any shirt, and put it on! " .  I called him a style monkey and the two gay guys next to us chuckled.  Noel said, " when these two are done with this machine you'll be next, only we'll add more weight on it! " .   Too funny!

There is a really cool wall painting / mural in progress, reminds me of the Leonardo DaVinci circle man only it's half skeleton, reminds me of a wicked tattoo.  I will snap a picture of it when it is finished!

I was early and ran on the treadmill for 10 minutes before he fetched me.  We did 3 back machines and 2 bicep machines, and he went lighter than usual given that I hadn't been there in two months and that I was also going into it with a healing shoulder injury.  He remembered that I had also hurt myself once in a minor way on the 2nd bicep machine and I had forgotten all about it.  I was impressed that he remembered and was grateful he was sensitive to my bum shoulder.

Not to say that it was easy by any means, I'm sure that by this time tomorrow it will be painful to open doors and I can already feel my arms saying hi to me when I lift a glass of water to my lips.  After the weights I ran on the treadmill for another 20 minutes, then did some hip opener stretches in the MMA room, which I had all to myself.

The big news is that Zoa, against Noel's advice, signed up for the Olympia this year.  Noel doesn't think she is big enough this year to grab a higher rank but she and her husband insisted on doing it anyway so she hired a different trainer.   Noel is so good at this stuff it would have been wise of her to trust him and wait, I think, but on the other hand one needs to follow one's dreams too.  I subscribe to 2 muscle mags so I'm sure I will be informed of where and if she places.  We shall see!

Tomorrow I'm going to the ballet (Ballero) with my friend (we got free tickets from work since we are a corporate sponsor) so it will be a rest day for me.  Thursday I'm back once again for the ever dreaded Leg Day.  OMG there is no such thing as a " light " Leg Day, at least that I've ever experienced!  I may only be squatting 150 lbs instead of 200 lbs on Thursday, but it will still feel like I'm Atlas!

It was a fun last session with Noel tonite!  These heavy lifting workouts never fail to disappoint, and tonite was no exception.  I got to end this series with my favorite workout of the three, Back and Biceps.  This is the workout that I intuitively equate with Strength.  My posture improves when I work the upper back like this, and he had me on I think 5 back machines tonite including one I am pretty sure I hadn't done before.  I first and foremost want a flat tummy, which I know comes from diet and cardio even more than doing crunches, but right after that the next thing I want to be ripped is my back.  I just think a ripped back on women is so incredibly sexy.   My aerobics instructor friend, Theresa, who was murdered by her husband last year and was coincidentally judged by Noel once in a bodybuilding contest had the most fabulous back muscles I'd ever seen - it was rippling with muscle, and she was strong and feminine looking at the same time.  I think about her often and she has inspired me to become stronger myself.  I still can't believe she is gone.  We took our AFAA certification together.

I also equate strength with biceps, probably from reading comic books where heros always have bulging biceps and embody that which is masculine an strong. We did the usual 2 machines for those, and I was disappointed that for the pyramid drill I was only doing 25 lbs.  He chided me for being so concerned about the number.  " It's just a number!  The important thing is you're building strength! "   While I know this to be true, I still wish it were a higher number.  I want to lift like the tough girls do, like Darcy and !  I must work on biceps on my own.  He thought the triple crush exercise with kettlebells was dumb - " Oh yeah, confuse the muscles so they don't know what's going on!  You need to focus on one muscle group at a time! "   He's probably right on this one.. I know that after our workout today my biceps were feeling the pump and when I got on the bus to check my email on my phone my arm could not hold the phone steady, it was shaking.  I know I will be sore tomorrow.  I will miss these major DOMS!

I told Noel the next time he sees me I will be 10 pounds lighter.  He asked, " Well when AM I going to see you next? " I said I didn't know, as the water bill came this month, which for Portland residents comes every 3 months, so when you do get it it's a big one, for me it was $157.00 which takes away from training $.

So while I'm bummed I won't be back for a month or two, the good news is that I got Turbo Fire as a gift, for which I'm eternally grateful as that is a $119.00 value.  I also got my Gymboss so I can create HIIT and tabata drills of my own, and I'm really pumped for this!  There are still 8+ workouts for me to do on Weber's new kettlebell dvd and I have at least three other virgin kettlebell dvd's too to help with strength training.  Between all this and running 3 miles at lunch I should be looking pretty good.  I might not have bulging muscles, but I will be more slender and tone if nothing else, and then when my funds grow again I can revisit Noel, as I always too, to get more bulk and to add spice to my Fitness life!

awesome workout.. think about this as your cardio fat burning time and then next Noel workouts will let the muscles shine thru even bigger :)... All training manuals talk about periodization for performance. I try to do that in my cycle class (I am sure they don't realize it) I take 1 month to focus strength, one on speed, one endurance one mixed and repeat....judy in DCFrom: Pink Pussycat <pinkpussycat@...> Sent: Tue, June 29, 2010 11:53:24 PMSubject: Back and Biceps with Noel

I'm so sorry about your friend Theresa. Did her husband kill her because she was leaving him or was this a case of domestic abuse? There are some sick people out there! Don't worry you will catch up with Darcy and soon! One step at a time...or one weight workout at a time.bulging BICEPS, JenFrom: Pink Pussycat
