Guest guest
Hi Everyone, This morning was PowerFIT Harmony Speed Burn. Usual drill here - I wore my weighted gloves, used my step and put my all into the movements - added large range of motion, upper body movements and impact where it seemed to fit. What is nice about this set is that if you aren't feeling 100% you can take it down, if you feel like going for it you can by modifying up. It is nice and empowering to modify up sometimes!Second workout was PowerFIT Back, Biceps and Thighs. I used both the green (heavy) and pink (light) band together. I kept the weighted gloves on and added my weighted belt. For the posterior flies I substituted dumbells for the band - I can't get the range of motion I want from the band here - and I have tweaked my neck/trapezius muscles by straining too much against the band. My add on workout was Shape's 20 Minute Makeover. I did the 20 minute "interval" (really more of a circuit) workout. Elise Gulhan leads this one. She also lead Element's Ballet workout. Her dance training is obvious in this workout based on the exercises she chose to include. The workout itself is different - not quite sure how to explain it - it is athletic (so not a dancey one), it is core focused, and Elise chose exercises that reflect her dance background (for instance - jumping plies for a cardio move, plies and leg lifts for leg toning). It is not a huge calorie-burning hearth-thumping cardio section. But, it is different and I kind of like it. I think it would make a good travel workout because no equipment is required. One of the backgrounders uses a light dubmbell throughout the workout - next time I do this I may keep my weighted gloves on. Elise does not mention that modification. There are two backgrounders - one shows lower intensity, one shows higher and Elise is in the middle somwhere. It is a circuit-style routine in that you alternate cardio with strength training (strength training is all bodyweight and somewhat non-traditional - dance based moves, yoga based moves, etc.) I also think I would like to do this workout barefoot next time. Plies and such always feel better to me that way and the impact is not high (except for a set of jumping jacks). Anyway, I'm looking forward to doing some of the add-ons contained on this DVD - there is upper body, lower body and abs. All of which seem to use yoga, dance (barre), and Pilates elements (at least based on my quick previews).Hope everyone has a good one!Donna
