Our speaker this month is Cheryl . Cheryl will talk with us about supporting siblings of children with autism. Cheryl is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and licensed Professional Counselor with expertise in working with families of children with disabilities. She is co-author (with Peggy Gallagher and Tom ) of Brother and Sisters: A special part of exceptional families published in August, 2006. She holds an M.S. in Counseling from City University of New York-Brooklyn College. She has been a trainer, project director, consultant, and counselor for over 25 years. She has designed programs and conducted support groups for siblings of childr

en with disabilities and for grandparents rearing grandchildren with disabilities. She is involved in initiatives for families of children with disabilities at the state and national level and serves as Chair of the Family Consortium Chair for DEC. She is presently Associate Director of Project Georgia SCEIs at Georgia State University and has worked with Georgia’s early intervention program for the past ten years. She is responsible for implementing GSU/SCEIs training modules, continuing education, data management, and parent education components. She is the parent of three, two daughters and a son, ages 22, 20, and 18; her younger daughter became disabled at age 13 months.
