Guest guest
Kathy, Risperdol has really helped out son (16) who has severe OCD. He is also on Zoloft, but it was pretty ineffectual until Risperdol was added. I would talk to your doctor about the side effects. With all drugs it is a balance between possible side effects and benefits. Good luck! Sinead Question about risperdol.. As you know my two DDs went on this drug about 2 weeks ago. The daughter who pulls her eyeslahes has had great success and almost has eyelashes again. I posted this success on the trichotillomania board and the board moderator sent me a note about the horrid side effectgs and is not recommended unless life threatening. I feel confused and now worried about the drug. I know you here have more OCD and things like that, but having a kid pull all her hair out is not easy either--it affects self esteem and so forth. Its just a different variety of anxiety. thoughts? kathy ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ oneSearch: Finally, mobile search that gives answers, not web links. http://mobile./mobileweb/onesearch?refer=1ONXIC
Guest guest
Its FDA approved....the only one that has been approved for ASD behavior-that made me feel a little better putting my son on it. As many of the drugs havent even been approved for kids etc....check out this sight: http://crazymeds.org/ its got all the good/bad on everything-Ive found her sight to be really helpful:) I guess you have to judge for yourself if pros outway the cons-in our case its a definite yes. Dont let others who dont live with what your kids and you are living with day in and day out sway your judgement when it comes to this sort of thing. You are doing what you think is best for your children{{HUGS}} Sometimes you just have to walk away from these types.....and yes, each child responds sooo differently that someone out there could have had a really bad reaction to some med, but that doesnt mean it couldnt mean all the difference to one of your kids -kwim? My son( 8) ASKS and reminds me for his meds-he knows they help him and hes glad he is on them Hope this helps ya-and I think we've all been there with the looks and talkings abt etc-hang in there girl {{HUGS}} Love ya, tammy stinkydogkid <stinkydogkid@...> wrote: As you know my two DDs went on this drug about 2 weeks ago. Guest guest
" .....I posted this success on the trichotillomania board and the board moderator sent me a note about the horrid side effectgs and is not recommended unless life threatening. " kathy Everyone has their opinions about using medications. YOU can see if the medication is helping your kids. Janie has had some severe bad reactions to some medications, but the same meds have done great things for other kids. Perhaps that moderator had a bad experience. Do what is right for your own kids. Our household would be in deep misery without meds for Janie and Katelyn. We use just enough to be able to work on behavior issues and getting the kids focused to learn. I deal with a temporary person for Janie's medication prescriptions who wants to over-medicate Janie. She would be a zombie if I gave her all the meds prescribed, so I don't. You know your kids and are the best judge of what works for them. Therapies are important and sometimes the meds are necessary in order to do therapy. If your kids get side effects that are worse than the benefits, you will know and can get it changed. P.
