" tummyache " can be all sorts of things to our kids and it can be all of

the possibilities everyone has named and more. I wanted to add that my

son had most of those issues when he was younger, and yes, probiotics and

avoidance of things that trigger his food allergies helped, but...

, 8, had terrible stomachaches last year that even woke him up at

night, affected his appetite and he lost weight. He had the full GI

workup and it all came back normal (except for a fungal infection in Sept

2009). Turns out he was having abdominal migraines and I feel bad that we

could not figure it out until he stopped having abdominal migraines in

February 2010 and began having the real thing (migraine headaches). The

pediatrician said that abdominal migraines are difficult to diagnose since

there is no test for them. If migraines run in your family, and all the

other tests/exams are normal, then abdominal migraines might be another

possibility.
