Guest guest
Anyone else have arthritis or other inflammatory conditions??? What do you do to help ease your symptoms? When I was in my late 20s, I went totally freaked out to the emergency room because my eyes were bloodshot (as in visibly red across the room, not a few veins showing). I was told it was arthritis. HUH? I suspected I had arthritis because I would have joint aches, etc. but the eyes? Fortunately, I have rheumatoid, not osteoarthritis. It's an autoimmune disorder but it's not wearing out of given joints--mine migrates through my smaller joints (and fortunately it doesn't affect my eyes after I found out--and it's been almost 20 years now.) I figured out that I get flare ups if I eat crab, lobster or shrimp so I avoid those foods. Since it's an inflammatory thing, I take fish oil (molecularly distilled to remove mercury and PCB's/contaminants) which seems to help. For a while I tried to gag down fish on a regular basis but I just couldn't stand it. The fish I do like, doesn't have much in the way of omega3--I think what I dislike in fish is the oils which are what make them fishy...so supplements work for me. I also take SAMe. Also as you lose fat, you will help the inflammation. I read that it's visceral fat (around the organs) not the " muffin top " aesthetic under skin fat, that is hormonally active and creates insulin resistance and inflammation. I do seem to have less flare ups than I did when I carried 30 more pounds (I also had pre-diabetic blood sugar and hypertension when I was heavier so those have to do with inflammation too.)
