Guest guest
So when I first joined this group there was a lot of discussion as to whether caffeine was gobbled up by the SCOBY or not. Some recommended using a Caffeine sensing strip but I search and found that noone had actually done the experiment. So I did. - I brewed a black tea KT and an oolong tea KT - I tested them both for caffeine. - Not surprisingly, the black tea showed a higher level of caffeine. - I left them alone for 10 days except to dip my strip every 2.5 days - By the end of the 10th day there was no change to the caffeine level on either batch. I WILL POST PICTURES OF THIS EXPERIMENT LATER ON TODAY WHEN I GET HOME. So since I'm super caffeine sensitive I gave the KT to my hubby to drink (a little to vinegary since it had brewed for so long) and returned the new SCOBYs to my little hotel. Just wanted to share.
