ACTG will be doing a trial of this: #5137 in 54 pts to assess its affects on fat tissue & inflammation, coagulation, & other cardiac disease biomarkers. Not sure how many ACTG sites will be enrolling, but should be a good chance for HIVers nationwide to participate. One of the major exclusion criteria is that you can't have been on any other ARB for 6 months. Given the potential of this currently available drug, it's disappointing to see such a small pilot study. I'll be asking the study team if they have plans for a larger rollover study if the pilot data look promising.
