Guest guest
Obviously, the importance of flushing itself has been established. You should also check with your surgeon about what to flush your port with. Crazy enough, most floor nurses, even at a children's hospital don't know port care. We've had numerous instances where they have tried to flush with 50 units of heparin instead of 500. Re: Ports need to be flushed no matter what Yeah, sometimes the drs think they know more...but i learned something too once...FOLLOW the MANUFACTURER'S DIRECTIVES....no exceptions. Do ya'll have the booklet that came with the port.....if so, pull it out and show it to any dr who says differently....the folks who make it create the rules about managing it.... I'm glad things turned out OK, so sorry ya'll had to go thro
