Rhonda, I'm sorry that you have gotten sick again. I think it must get

rougher as time goes, either that or we are older. I'm glad you wrote and I

hope that we can help in any way by being here and listening. Big hugs with

lots of love, Pattymelt

Hi Rhonda, it's certainly nice to see you back on the list again although not under these circumstances. I'm sorry to hear that your remission is over and it must be tough to deal with when you have had that bit of freedom from all the pain and distruction that this disease brings with it. I guess the one good thing is that you had a glimpse of freedom and you know that it is possible to regain it once again. I do hope that you will be able to find the right medication combo to fight this dragon and send him packing once again! You did it once, I know you can do it again.

Since the Imuran is making you so sick, could the doctor put you on another drug as there are many other newer drugs out there now a days.

Just a thought.

Take care,

Marilyn

I haven't been around for awhile...a faithful lurker only...Anyway,

I am now out of a remission...the longest one ever...one year and

seven months. I really thought that I had not only danced with the

dragon, but killed the blasted thing. Well, he is back, but now I am

more than determined than ever to fight. Once you taste the "good

life" nothing less will satisfy. I have been so depressed about

things, but I am trying to think positively and remember that each

remission is worth working for. I just hate to be back on the meds.

The Imuran makes me so sick. Well...thanks for the opportunity to

ramble. Hello to all my old friends...Welcome to the new ones!

Hi Rhonda,

How bad is your latest relapse? What are your symptoms, blood results etc ... and is it as bad as previous relapses and the onset?

Steve

Hi, Steve

The symptoms are butterfly rash, fatigue, afternoon fever, a lot of

joint pain and some swelling (especially the wrists and ankles). I

am able to walk, but it is very painful. I have also experience an

unexplainable weight loss of over 30 pounds causing me to be

underweight, which is very unusual for me. I don't know if the

weight loss is related to the flare, but I suspect it is. I don't

have all of my blood tests results . I am going back tomorrow to the

doctor. I DO know my sed rate is elevated, but I don't know the

actual number yet. This is my third relapse. My first remission

lasted a few months, my second a full year, and this one was 1 year

and 7 months, so I am hoping each time the remissions will last

longer, and that is what my rheumy thinks also. No relapse has ever

been as devastating as the onset of the disease. I knocked on

death's door at that time...more than once. This relapse has been

rather bad because I lived in denial for as long as I could and

didn't increase my medication. I just didn't want to believe what my

body was telling me. Also, I started having eye pain and extreme

dryness and a twitch that was there 24 hours a day. I saw a neruo-

ophthalmologist who told me that is related to the Stills.

I hope this answers your questions...Thanks for asking...

Blessings!

Rhonda
