Guest guest
<<I'm struggling. Just want to share that with you. I am very hard on myself for the DIF of my overeating has lessened over the years, but I am such a perfectionist. And, again after another binge tonight, I resolve to never do it again! I want to eat moderately and feel good in my body (notice the want stated in the positive ! I want to allow myself time to lose the weight, for it will take time! I do not even have very much weight to lose (15 pounds, tops?! I do not have access to a scale). I know this will get easier, but I am asking for help! I am hurting and embarrassed>> (These are my thoughts as a Certified Life Coach) Admitting that you are struggling is the first step to being able to resolve issues so your letter is a reflection of the fact that you want to make this change. As Coach, there are two things that I would recommend to my own clients. First when you make a statement about the future...take the word 'want' out of it. This will make it a more powerful focus in your mind. So, " I want to allow myself time to lose weight' becomes " I ALLOW MYSELF to lose weight! " Can you feel the difference in intention? The other thing I would recommend to a client is to listen to each podcast more then once. I got involved with coaching because I have an autistic cognitively challenged son. When he was about ten, I started making video tapes of things he liked, and I would put in what I wanted him to remember as the background chatter. You would not believe how quickly and completely he took to and INTERNALIZED those comments. That is because the brain will store messages, and with each repetition they become stronger and stronger. I always say 'if we can get that kind of a result from a damaged brain (my son had a stroke at birth), just imagine what we can do with all of our potential! As just another friend on line, I can tell you what worked for me this time around. (Other then having listened and really worked the program with all of 's podcasts that she has created) When I wanted to get back on my program this time, I realized that for me, having to give up foods, cut portions, and start an exercise program all at once, is prety intimidating. So I changed what I ate and ate healthily like oatmeal and bananas for breakfast instead of the pancakes I had been doing. I give myself a little 'treat' each evening of either a small glass of wine OR a small glass of half fat ice cream with bananas. And Because my back was giving me major issues, I also started slowly with exercising so only rowed for five minutes a day. Over the past seven weeks, I have changed so much and with very little struggle. I morphed to eating half a BLT on whole grain toast each morning which is leaner andn lighter. I also am now up to rowing an hour a day. (I consider thirty minutes to be my 'daily quota' but am motivated right now to try and find a waist by the end of March for an event.) Both the changes in my eating and the exercise felt like they came fairly naturally to me. Do I 'go off' from my healthiest eating? Yep!! Every weekend. I don't pig out, but I realize that for me, what I am doing is creating a lifeplan that I can live with for the rest of my life. So I loosen up on weekends a tad, and then hop right back to my healthiest format dduring the week. I am seeing tremendous results on my program. But the best part, and what I am trying to say is that you need to be GOOD to yourself as you start to create your own programm which you can follow. Remind yourself how GOOD it feels to be on track...and then allow yourself to get out of your own way. Good luck to you..I hope at least one thought here, might be helpful!
