Guest guest
, Let's tease this apart-there are alot of factors here. First of all, your worries are magnified by your free day yesterday-you feel you're not where you want to be, and your anxiety is about 10x greater b/c of the free day. Second, the big picture is that you feel you aren't making the changes you wanted to make, despite your diligent hard work. There could be so many different reasons for this. Were you previously underweight? I remember you were worried about your metabolic rate in the beginning-I believe you mentioned that you previously underate, and this program may have been a marked change in your daily consumption. If this is the case, it could take a few months for your body to adjusdt it's metabolic thermostat. Past restriction may have tricked your body into starvation mode, and now you're telling it differently. I, too, have been a big restrictor in the past, and felt uncomfortable with the program b/c I felt I was eating too much. I have also had the same results, and I know that it's disheartening. BUT.....here is the bigger picture. You are building life habits, not going on a diet here. The liberty of choosing six small meals per day far outweighs the constant worry of restriction. The constant goal setting towards fitness and building muscle is a healthier goal than " weight loss. " This is a fun program that is allowing you many other benefits outside of weight loss like cardiovascular health, mental well-being, muscles, and most of all, balance. Try to remember that even if you haven't seen the results nyou felt you wanted, you certainly have gained all of these things, which are priceless. Try to stay focused on the bigger picture-peace of mind and happiness are priceless. Hope this helps... :-)

Guest guest
, Here is an excerpt from a chate with Lezlee , a 1999 BFL Champion. Maybe this will help you! I was reading through the chat transcripts when I came across this - perfect timing! Sedgewick asks: As you neared your 12th week, did you find that your results slowed any, or did they speed up?Lezlee: Definitely, they accelerated. The last two weeks, I dropped an additional two sizes. I got very incredible results the last two weeks. Sadly, I know a lot of people who quit at week 10, because they don't feel like they've seen enough results, and not realizing those last two weeks give incredible gains. I encourage everybody to see it through to the end, because I saw changes in my body daily at the last two weeks. Hang in there, and go all the way! Hope this helps!! Guest guest
, please don't quit. I do KNOW how frustrating it is not to be where you want to be. I've been injury plagued this challenge. Trust me, I feel your pain! I recently had a LONG talk with a dr. friend of mine ( orthopod, trainer for a professional football team, sports nutrition, Olympic guru, etc). I have actually gained inches in places and was very discouraged. He told me that sometimes, as you build muscle, the inches increase because the fat hasn't come off yet. We initially lose fat viscerally ( deep inside our bodies) and eventually we lost fat so you can see the muscle definition. It's only a matter of time before the inches disappear and what's revealed underneath is great looking muscle. You have seen the error of your ways ( eating below BMR) which caused your body to hoard fat. Your body thought you were starving. You've changed that and now it's just going to take some time before your body responds the way you want it to. You are doing something right or you would not be able to increase your strength! Have you been to http://www.bodychangers.com and listened to any of the interviews? Some of them are very inspirational. Don't give up. Continue on for the next two weeks. Take your after picture, measure your bodyfat, and make comparisons. I think you'll be surprised at just how much success you will have achieved. Glenda week 10 trouble > Hi everyone. Guest guest
Oh I agree with you Glenda I thought the tops of my thighs were looking puffier and more bulky, but then I realized that just below that there was muscle definition starting to develop (just a tad)......So I am taking encouragement from seeing the lines of muscle, and forgetting the puffy part......that will melt off in its own due time My body is going to change shape a few more times (im sure) until this transformation is complete Actually its intruiging to wake up each day and see small changes and wonder what is coming next!! I LOVE THIS PROGRAM! Anyway, I was careful not to fool myself into thinking I could achieve my goals in 1 challenge (not saying you did this ....Ive accepted that it will probably take 2 to get there....this way I wouldnt be looking for such dramatic results and getting discouraged if they didnt happen! , hang in there! Look at this as a new way to live, and the results and changes are just the blessings you receive from taking proper care of your body, the way we all should have from the start Please dont panic ~~ I recently had a LONG talk with a dr. friend of mine ( orthopod, trainer fora professional football team, sports nutrition, Olympic guru, etc). Guest guest
, Don't give up! This program will work for you. It's great that you are gaining strength, and that you have stuck with the program for 10 weeks. There are so many people who quit long before the 10th week. I believe that you are a winner, not a quitter. Otherwise, you would not have come to this group for help, and you certainly would not have stuck with the program for 10 weeks already. Let's take a look at what a typical day for you is like nutrition- wise. Could you post a sample of what you eat, the times you eat, what your goals are, what your weight and BF% is and what supplements you are taking? We're here to help you. Kathy > Hi everyone. Guest guest
Hi, and thanks everyone for the support that is much needed. After I wrote that post I sat down and had a heart to heart talk with, well, myself. Anyways, I decided to do something about it, get going to the gym for my ubw and stick with the program. After all, I am NOT a quitter. All of the posts really helped and the thought that others made big progress in the last two weeks is so reasuring. I typically have 1 1/2tbsp udo's oil, daily with a calcium and multi-vitamin somewhere throughout the day. These last 2 weeks of my life have been really really crazy so I will try to give you an example of a typical day. I workout in the morning after a cup of coffee. Have a couple cold tofu dogs(nutrition works out)with an apple an hour later after getting ready at the gym for school. At lunch I have 1/2 cup oatmeal and a can of tuna then for meal 3, I have perhaps another 1/2oatmeal and again tofu dogs meal 4 is usually a piece of fruit and either tuna, protein shake usually however meal 5 and six are a bit close together and are later than 9:00 at night. I don't really consume any carbs other than the fruit and oatmeal as portions. But up until now did often snack on large quantities of baby carrots, cauliflower, etc in between and at meal time. This week (with all of your support:) I hope to make it the best possible! I am going to give it my all, and I did have a great workout this morning. _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. Guest guest
Kathy, I don't actually know my bf% but I am not that big and can tell when I put on a few or am getting too thin. I currently weigh around the 110 mark and am 5'5. I really want an awesome stomach. That was probably my biggest goal, along with really defined legs. My problem however, is my midsection. I don't weigh that much but whatever weight I put on goes there. My arms are getting bigger and not so spindley which is good. I usually try to aim for 1600 calories per day too. Does this help at all. Recently I have tried eating a few whole cans of tuna instead of the half all the time. Thank you and any advice would be appreciated. >From: " Kathy " <on2gold@...> >Reply-bodyforlife >bodyforlife >Subject: Re: week 10 trouble >Date: Sat, 24 Mar 2001 19:17:01 -0000 > >, > Don't give up! Guest guest
Hi, , I think you were replying to me. Not sure if you were asking me how my progress has been so far since you said but I will answer anyway. (Kind of funny but I do get called the wrong name every so often and believe it or not it is ALWAYs the same wrong name .... !!! :-) Anyway, ok, I am at the end of week nine. Have lost over 20 pounds. Am wearing a smaller size that fits great! As compared to my tight fitting larger size when I started. Have a TON of energy! Just got my body fat measured a week ago but do plan to have it measured at the end of the 12 weeks. I need to lose about 50+ pounds so I will be doing another challenge after this but all I can say is these 12 weeks have been great! And I cannot believe we only have two more weeks, right Dawn? :-) My goals were: Lose 30 pounds of fat ... which I knew was probably a two challenge goal Flatten my stomach See difference in how my clothes fit Gain strength Gain endurance The only goal I really haven't seen a bit of progress in is " flatten my stomach. " But after three c-sections, it is probably going to take a bit longer and I hate doing ad exercises!! But I definitely have reach all my other goals and will be writing new ones in two weeks. Can't wait to take that after challenge 1 picture and before challenge 2 picture and compare it to my before challenge 1 pic :-) Maybe I will get daring and post! :-) Aren't you glad you asked? I currently weigh around the 110 mark and am 5'5. I really want an awesome stomach. That was probably my biggest goal, along with really defined legs. My problem however, is my midsection. I don't weigh that much but whatever weight I put on goes there. I agree with the person who talked about refining your goals. I also didn't see where you mention your bodyfat percentage, but I hope you've had it done. Perhaps comparisons of bodyfat percentages would give you a boost of confidence. From what I've read, it appears you're a vegan, correct me if I'm wrong. Given what I've seen of what you do eat, and what you're trying to accomplish, I'm wondering if you've got some visual perception issues. Having a "really flat stomach" is an extremely subjective goal, one that is hard to quantify. Just looking is not good enough. I have an extremely flat stomach, no joke, but my bodyfat percentage is still just above 30% (down from 35, but still above 30). Also, considering your intake of food, I wonder that you're truly eating enough - and what is a free day for you? Since you're vegan, what is pigging out? I'm not trying to be sarcastic or cruel, here. I'm truly interested. For us meat-eaters, pigging out has a much larger menu. Hope you know what I'm getting at...but if you don't, let's keep talking.
