Joe,

Your chocolate association made me laugh SO loudly right in front of my

computer.

That is probably the funniest thing I've seen in awhile! Wow, what an

association!!!

I think I hate chocolate now!!! All I can think about is how it reminds me

now of the little " presents " that my mom's Yorkshire terrier leaves around

the house!!!

Ha ha!!

Hiya Pam, Nice to hear from you again ;-). Now about your eating.....

You know every time you say, Maybe low fat (or whatever) will work for me, you are sabotaging your thinking. Don't do that. Say to yourself, "Just for today, I am going to follow my plan. I promise myself that I will." If you cannot rely on yourself to keep a promise, it's a sad thing. You wouldn't break a promise to a friend or your child would you? Make yourself the centre of your attention, every single day, no matter what other responsibilities and demands you have. Tell yourself over and over, "Today, I WILL keep my promise to myself."

Possibly you find a 12 week period daunting. Perhaps it seems too long, too far in the distance? Could you set yourself really small goals, daily, weekly and so on? Three weeks ago, when the sun revisted my state, I wrote myself an essay telling myself exactly what I feel at this time of year. In a word - PANIC! I wrote that in 4 weeks, I promise myself this sense of panic will be gone. Every day I read my words along with my goals and this really helps keep me on track.

You seem like a lovely person, you certainly have a great sense of humor, so how about some new focus on your nutrition? It's only food!! Think of it as a powerful choice - the choice you make about what is on your plate right now, is dictating your future, just as surely as any other life choice you make. Every time you think of giving in to something that you know you shouldn't be eating, you are giving food power that you take away from yourself. Food doesn't have any power unless you give it some and you need all the power you have for your workouts, so Pam, consider your rear kicked!!

You CAN do this. I have picked myself up so often, I've got skid marks in front of my fridge! Good luck and all the best, .

Pam,

Don't worry, it happens to the best of us.

Concentrate on what you are feeling when you want to eat unauthorized foods.

It can be caused by emotion, deprievation, stress, a number of things. I tend to reach for chocolate when I'm stressed.

In the end, it's all about control and who has it (you or the food).

If you feel "out of control" , then you are. Get it back (easier said then done, I know).

> I eat good 2-3 meals a day and then eat really bad. Mexican food, pizza, ice cream, cereal, hamburger, you name it. I resolve to do better the next day and then I don't. No more!!! I'm getting my menu drawn up and getting back on track!>

This exact

thing happened to me. I remember

it as if it were yesterday. The smell

alone made me want to hurl! And

then the visual!

I love it! Nothing like maggots to ruin the appetite.

Cover your

eyes again. I purchased some 9-Lives once and it wasn't quite

sealed. I could smell something under my bathroom sink and wasn't

sure what it was. Eventually, I investigated and one of the cans of

cat food had maggots. It was so gross to me and I wouldn't want to

eat after seeing that. So if you want to be really extreme....

Thank you so very much for that information. I don't think I can look at a

can of cat food quite the same. Gee, there are 6 cans on my counter!
