Guest guest
Hi Vicky Do ABA practitioners have a national body that they are registered under? If so it is always useful to access their complaints procedure. Who recommended this person.. if it was through your county council CYPD then you should be able to meet with one of the education authorities and they are obliged to report back to you within 20 days of you making a complaint. Other thing is to ask the ABA teacher if you can meet other families she works with to understand what success they are having with her work. If you can meet up with them you could as questions in general terms that reflect the issues you have, referencing them back to someone on the ABE group... If they have had similar issues, your case is strengthened and together you may be able to make a bigger impact. We have just begun a formal complaint about school provision and in view of the number and seriousness of the issues have been told by our CYPD folk that it may take several months to respond.. Which is fine.. My children will never return to the school, so they are safely away from the poor school now. Your voice will be heard, like the other advice, it is tricky to name names publicly and you need to consider whether or not you firstly need to put your complaints in writing to the ABA person giving her 10 working days to respond in writing..before taking any more public step. Nina, Margaret and Darla, you have already told me who to contact privately and I really want to do that but still concerned that there could be some come back on us.Other people have warned me to be very, very careful with regard to this person. Any thoughts especially on the legal side would be very welcome.Vicky
