Guest guest
Tonight I'm not writing about Noah, but his younger 8 yo brother. He's never had signs of OCD before, but now he's driving me nuts because he continually does this breathing thing. He does have mild asthma, which we are treating and is well under control. But he keeps doing these short, shallow breaths in threes (at least it seems to always be threes) almost as if trying to catch his breath. I am sure it isn't really a need to catch his breath (he's fine during sleep and at other times). I've asked him why he's doing that and he says he just wants to. He also gets a little irritated when I try to talk about it. I asked if he thinks about it before he does it or even realizes that he's doing it and he said it goes both ways. Sometimes he knows he's doing it and sometimes he didn't know he was going to. Anyway, I'm hoping this isn't our first OCD ritual. Anyone else seen this kind of breathing thing before?
