Guest guest
Okay, thank you! Re: Definition of impact in exercise Interesting , I have also never heard that! So, I just read the first chapter, where they rip on other fitness celebs like Jane Fonda, and Kathy plus other experts in the field and towards the end, they summarize what else you'll find in the book, including a glossary of terms. In the glossary I found the following definitions: High-impact: movement in which for a split-second neither foot is on the ground. Low-impact: movement in which one foot remains on the ground. Nonimpact: movement in which both feet remain on the ground. I've never heard those before but have wondered if there is an agreed upon difference between high and low-impact aerobics. Anyone know of any different definitions than these? Anyway, now, during my next workout, when the instructor cues for "low-impact aerobics" I will be watching for how many feet really do remain on the ground! Probably won't work out again until Tuesday. Very insane week this past week with lots of things the kids and I or the entire family did together (very fun too), work and other commitments. Having the kids home is a blessing and also severely impacts my workout time. They don't need to be watched so I can workout while they do something else but with my work schedule, working out plus working means spending a lot less time with them so I either have to haul my butt out of bed a lot earlier and workout before they are moving around, do my workouts in the evening after dinner if we're not doing something together as a family or sacrifice time with them. I'm working on the first option for next week. I need to get into a good routine with them here. I was hoping to finish this rotation by June 30 but that is starting to look less likely, hopefully I'll be done not too long after though, just because I want to say I finished it and because I don't want to drag it out toooooo long because that means I'm not working out nearly as much as I want to!
