Hi ,

I appreciated your post....very well written and intelligent, and lots of good

background information about our fortune with these drug options.

I agree about green tea. I drink a fair amount of it (often with a splash of

org. fruit juice) because it is a good anti-oxidant, but it does not control or

influence cml cells.

Just because you are doing 2 things at once (drinking green tea, and staying off

medical drugs) it does not mean that there is any correlation between the two

events. For all they know at present, maybe the hormones of being pregnant have

an influence on the cml cells, or maybe it was because she was in the early dx

phase that she was able to be off drug for a period of time.

But she does contradict herself with her claims about green tea (posted on the

list several times) and then she herself needing to start Gleevec because of her

high white count and an enlarged and painful spleen. I think right there you

have the anecdotal evidence that green tea was not preventing the cml cells from

increasing.

Several of us, chatting off line, were just hopeful that others could see

through her faulty reasoning about green tea......but you never know when

someone might be vulnerable and hoping for some magic. When they first wrote

about Gleevec in People magazine, it was called the " magic bullet " .....so this

is where our magic is. We need which ever drug is working best for us to

survive.

I am glad you monitor the list and hope you will keep contributing when you feel

you have something to add.

C.
